FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's a lumen?
The lumen (symbol: lm) is the unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source. A 60 watt incandescent bulb emits about 800 lm. New, energy-efficient LED technology can no longer rely upon wattage to indicate how bright a bulb is because wattage measures energy used not the lumens.
What does color temperature mean?
Color temperature is expressed in kelvin, using the symbol K, a unit of measure for absolute temperature. Color temperatures over 5000 K are called "cool colors" (bluish white), while lower color temperatures (2700–3000 K) are called "warm colors" (yellowish white). Cool light is preferred for visual tasks because it produces higher contrast than warm light. Warm light for living spaces.
2000K-3000K: gives off a soft white glow.
3100K-4500K: gives off a bright amount of white light; best for where task lighting is needed.
4600K-6500K: gives off a bright amount of blue-white light, similar to that of daylight; for where very bright illumination is needed.
6500K and up: gives off a bright bluish hue of light, often found in commercial locations.
What are LED lights?
LED lights are long-lasting, eco-friendly and super energy efficient. LED bulbs emit almost no heat, thrive in cold weather and are at least 75% more efficient than standard incandescent. Dimmable options and LED-compatible dimmers are available. Average life is about 25,000 plus hours (standard medium base). Great for outdoor, landscape, recessed, task and decorative lighting.
What are COB LED lights?
COB (Chips on Board) , is a new technology of LED packaging for LED light engine. Multi LED chips are packaged together as one lighting module with the advantages of saving even more energy and have a very long lifespan. The difference between COB and SMD is that COB LEDs have more diodes. COB chips typically have 9 or more diodes. An SMD LED Module (surface-mount device light-emitting diode module) is a type of LED module that uses surface-mount technology (SMT) to mount LED chips on printed circuit boards.
What's the difference between a PIR motion sensor and a microwave motion sensor?
PIR sensor detects a human being moving around within approximately 10m from the sensor on average, as the actual detection range is between 5m and 12m. PIR are fundamentally made of a pyro electric sensor, which can detect levels of infrared radiation. When the sensor is idle, both slots detect the same amount of IR, the ambient amount radiated from the room or walls or outdoors. When a warm body like a human or animal passes by, it first intercepts one half of the PIR sensor, which causes a positive differential change between the two halves.
Microwave sensors detect motion through the principle of Doppler radar, and are similar to a radar speed gun. A continuous wave of microwave radiation is emitted, and phase shifts in the reflected microwaves due to motion of an object toward (or away from) the receiver result in a heterodyne signal at a low audio frequency. More sensitive than PIR sensors.
What's the difference in solar panels?
Polycrystalline solar panels are not quite as efficient as monocrystalline solar panels. Monocrystalline solar panels are about 10%-15% more efficient. You need to cover a larger surface area with polycrystalline to output the same electrical power as you would with a solar panel made of monocrystalline silicon. The material difference between polycrystalline and monocrystalline is in the composition of the silicon substrate used to make solar cells, and in turn solar panels. Monocrystalline means “a single crystal,” while polycrystalline means “many crystals.
What are lithium ion batteries?
Lithium-ion (li-ion) batteries have been developed to reduce the physical size and improve the performance of a conventional battery where you have better efficiency to store more energy with less weight and physical size. Lithium batteries provide up to 4 times more life expectancy than traditional battery banks. The highly efficient ion structure makes it suitable for outdoor solar light applications. Lithium will perform well under many different temperature fluctuations and will re charge quickly and efficiently without losing performance. A lithium ion battery will not reduce in performance over its life time; this allows the use of battery in a low state of charge without losing any performance.
How do I track my order?
At the top of the page where it says ORDER LOOKUP input your order # and email address to see where your package is.
Are the products shipped from the US?
Some are but most products come directly from the factory in China and may take up to 3 weeks to arrive but 2-3 weeks is average.
